Roof Molding: Removal
- Turn over the front end of the molding roof and release the positioning clip from the body side rivet.
- Slide the inner fastener in the direction of the arrow using a thin flat tip screwdriver wrapped with a protection tape or a precision screwdriver, then remove the fastener from the stud on the vehicle side.
Right side: Slide towards the front of the vehicle.
Left side: Slide towards the rear of the vehicle.
- Model without roof rail, 6 locations per side x2
- Pull up the molding roof, and remove from the vehicle.
- When removing the carrier BRKT, remove the bolt (1 place) that secures the trim panel sub assembly and the curtain airbag module.
CAUTION:
- Do not remove the clips securing the curtain airbag module. If any of the clips are removed, the curtain airbag module may not deploy properly in collision. If the clip is removed, replace the curtain airbag module assembly.
- Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- Be careful not to damage the curtain airbag module during removal.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the trim panel sub assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF TRIM>REMOVAL .
- Remove the bolt (1 place) securing the curtain airbag module.
- Remove the nuts, and remove the carrier BRKT.
