DTC P1C86-79: Transmission (Input) Mechanical Linkage Failure: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Outline of diagnosis:

Transaxle system fault (input system lock)

Engine cranking was commanded while the vehicle was stopped; however, the generator did not rotate

Generator or engine does not rotate, or fault of planetary gear

    (1 trip detection logic)

    Trouble symptom:

    • Reduced output power
    • A driving range is limited
    • Engine always stopped
    CAUTION:
  1. CHECK DTC  .

Read the DTC of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    NOTE:
    Malfunction contents Related DTC
Sensor and actuator circuit malfunction P1C87-79 GENERATOR MECHANICAL LINKAGE FAILURE
P1C88-79 PLANETARY GEAR MECHANICAL LINKAGE FAILURE
NOTE: DTC P1C86-79 may be output simultaneously due to the fault that DTC above describes.

When "Only DTC P1C86-79 is displayed" or "DTC other than above is displayed", go to  A.

When DTCs related to [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control] mentioned above are simultaneously displayed, go to  B.

    Yes:

    1. Go to  2.
    2. Perform the diagnosis for the simultaneously displayed DTCs.
NOTE: If more than one DTC is simultaneously displayed, perform the diagnosis in the order described in the above.

  2. CHECK CRANK PULLEY ROTATION (P POSITION)  .
    1. Check that the shift is placed in P position.
    2. Lift up the vehicle at all wheels.
    3. Rotate the crank pulley clockwise by hand and check if the crank shaft rotates.
CAUTION: Turn to READY ON during inspection. Be sure to check for IG OFF before inspection to prevent the engine from starting.
NOTE: It is occasionally difficult to rotate the crank pulley due to resistance with compression in the engine. Therefore check whether or not the rotation can be done (locked/unlocked) by applying appropriate torque by hand (a torque that can rotate the crank pulley in normal engine condition of the same type).

      Does the crank pulley rotate?

    Yes:

    Go to  3.

    No:

    Go to  6.

  3. CHECK ENGINE RACING  .
    1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read and record the following DTCs and freeze frame data. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO(HEV))>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO(HEV))>FREEZE FRAME DATA . Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
