Hybrid Mode Switch System

- INTERVIEW

Ask the customer if "Mode Change/Not Available" was displayed on the combination meter when he/she operated Hybrid mode switch.
Was it displayed on the combination meter?
Yes:
Finish the diagnosis.
NOTE: If it was displayed, the mode switching condition was not satisfied.No:
Go to 2.
- CHECK LAN SYSTEM
.
Inspect LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
Is LAN system OK?
Yes:
Go to 3.
No:
Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- CHECK DTC
.
Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read all DTCs. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes:
Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs.
No:
Go to 4.
- CHECK DATA MONITOR (Hybrid mode switch)

Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [P-HEV Hybrid Powertrain Control]. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
- HV/EV Mode Switch
Does the display change according to the Hybrid mode switch operation?
Yes:
Perform the diagnosis for combination meter and MFD. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Ref. to MULTI-FUNCTION DISPLAY (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
No:
Go to 5.
- CHECK THE Hybrid mode switch UNIT
.
- Remove the Hybrid mode switch. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SWITCHES AND HARNESS .
- Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid mode switch terminals.
Connector and terminal
(AD95) No. 1 - (AD95) No. 4:
Is the resistance as follows?
When Hybrid mode switch is pressed: Less than 50 Ω
When Hybrid mode switch is not operated: 10 kΩ or more
Yes:
Go to 6.
No:
Replace Hybrid mode switch. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SWITCHES AND HARNESS .
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid mode switch - CHASSIS GROUND) (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid mode switch connector and chassis ground.
Connector and terminal
(AD95) No. 4 - Chassis ground:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes:
Go to 7.
No:
Repair or replace the Wire harness between Hybrid mode switch connector and chassis ground.
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - Hybrid mode switch) (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
- Disconnect Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector (i370).
- Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid mode switch connector and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
Connector and terminal
(i370) No. 15 - (AD95) No. 1:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes:
Go to 8.
No:
Repair or replace the Wire harness between Hybrid mode switch connector and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
- CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly - Hybrid mode switch) (SHORT TO GROUND OR LINE-TO-LINE SHORT)
.
Using a tester, measure the resistance between Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector and chassis ground.
Connector and terminal
(i370) No. 15 - Chassis ground:
Is the resistance 10 kΩ or more?
Yes:
Replace Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE .
No:
Repair or replace the Wire harness between Hybrid mode switch connector and Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly connector.
