Door Outer Handle: Removal: Front

  1. Raise the glass assembly - front door to the top position.
  2. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE: For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  3. Remove the trim panel - front door. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>DOOR TRIM>REMOVAL>FRONT DOOR .
  4. Remove the sealing cover - front door. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>SEALING COVER>REMOVAL>FRONT SEALING COVER .
  5. Remove the plate - door UPR.
    1. Release the clips, and remove the plate - door UPR.

  6. Remove the cover - handle front outer.
    1. Remove the plug at the rear end of the panel assembly - front door.

    2. Loosen the TORX® bolt and remove the cover - handle front outer.

      Preparation tool: 

      TORX® T30

      NOTE: Since the key cylinder is not installed to the RH side, release the claws, and then remove the cover - handle front outer.
  7. Remove the handle - front door outer.
    NOTE: Do not apply excessive force to remove the handle - front door outer from the frame assembly - front door.
    1. For model with keyless access with push button start, disconnect the harness clip and exterior antenna (touch sensor) connector using a flat tip screwdriver or similar tool wrapped with protection tape.

    2. Remove the handle - front door outer by pulling it toward yourself and to the rear as shown in the figure.

  8. Remove the spacer - door handle outer.
    1. Release the claws and hooks, and remove the spacer - door handle outer A and B.

  9. Remove the frame assembly - front door outer.
    1. Remove the rod clamp and remove the rod.

    2. Loosen the TORX® bolt.

      Preparation tool: 

      TORX® T30

    3. Release the claws, and remove the frame assembly - front door outer as shown in the figure.
