DTC B2A15: VIN Data Response

Diagnosis start condition:

When ignition switch is ON.

DTC detecting condition:

When ignition switch is ON, VIN information (CAN) sent from ECM cannot be read.

Trouble symptom:

Telematics function cannot be used.
RED LED illuminates.

CAUTION:

After the DCM is replaced, registrations of CommCheck and immobilizer system are required. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>TELEMATICS SYSTEM>OPERATION>REGISTRATION (COMM CHECK) .
Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .

NOTE: A DTC may be displayed if non-genuine products such as self-diagnosis tools are connected to the date link connector or accessory connector.

CHECK DTC .
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
2. Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B2A15 displayed? (Current malfunction)

Yes: Go to 2.

No: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
CHECK DTC .
Read the following DTCs using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.5)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.0 (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO(HEV))>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC U**** displayed? (Current malfunction)

Yes: Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

No: Go to 3.
CHECK NON-GENUINE PRODUCT CONNECTION .
1. Remove non-genuine products connected to the date link connector or accessory connector.
2. Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B2A15 displayed? (Current malfunction)

Yes: Go to 4.

No: Effects of non-genuine products.

NOTE: When using Subaru telematics, remove non-genuine products. When not using Subaru telematics, leave them as they are.
CHECK DATA MONITOR .
Confirm VIN information from the engine OBD mode. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.5)>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO(HEV))>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO 2.0 (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) .

Is VIN information displayed?

Yes: Replace the DCM. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>DATA COMMUNICATION MODULE .

No: Replace the ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO(HEV))>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .
