DTC B2244: Amplifier Communication

DTC detecting condition:

Detected when no connection is established because there is no communication with the audio amplifier after the ACC is ON.

Trouble symptom:

Sound does not come out from the speaker.

Wiring diagram:

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to INFOTAINMENT (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  1. CHECK FUSE  .

Check the fuse. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>RELAY AND FUSE .

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  2.

No:  Replace the fuse. If the replaced fuse blows out easily, repair the ground short circuit in the harness between the battery and audio amplifier.

  2. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the audio connector or navigation unit connector.
    3. Disconnect the amplifier connector.
    4. Using the tester, measure the resistance of harness between audio connector or navigation unit connector and audio amplifier connector.

      Connector and terminal

      (i87) No. 7 - (R316) No. 8:

      (i87) No. 8 - (R316) No. 7:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes:  Go to  3.

No:  Repair the open circuit of harness between audio connector or navigation unit connector and audio amplifier.

  3. CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)  .

Using the tester, measure the resistance between audio connector or navigation unit connector and chassis ground.

    Connector and terminal

    (i87) No. 7 - Chassis ground:

    (i87) No. 8 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 Ω or more?

    Yes:  Go to  4.

No:  Repair the ground short circuit of the harness between audio connector or navigation unit connector and audio amplifier.

  4. CHECK HARNESS (SHORT CIRCUIT TO POWER SUPPLY)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Using the tester, measure the voltage between audio connector or navigation unit connector and chassis ground. (With each connector disconnected)

      Connector and terminal

      (i87) No. 7 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

      (i87) No. 8 (+) - Chassis ground (-):

Is the voltage less than 1 V?

    Yes:  Go to  5.

No:  Repair the short circuit to power supply in the harness between audio connector or navigation unit connector and audio amplifier.

  5. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Connect all the disconnected connectors.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Infotainment]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    5. Turn the ignition switch OFF → ON.
    6. Read the DTC of [Infotainment] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to INFOTAINMENT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

Is DTC B2244 displayed? (Current malfunction)

Yes:  Replace the audio amplifier. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>POWER AMPLIFIER .

No:  Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
