DTC C1B1F Solenoid Valve 1 Stuck: Notes

1. - 

DTC detecting condition: 

In a state where the hydraulic control performance has remarkably deteriorated due to stuck closed solenoid valve, defective brake 1 system, brake fluid leakage, etc.

Trouble symptom: 

Wiring diagram: 

Electronic controlled brake system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM (CROSSTREK MODEL (HEV))>ELECTRIC CONTROL BRAKE SYSTEM .

  1. CHECK INTERVIEW RESULTS (SYMPTOM OCCURRENCE CONDITION) AND FREEZE FRAME DATA  .
    1. Interview the customer about driving and braking conditions when the brake warning light (red) illuminated.
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, record the following freeze frame data. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>FREEZE FRAME DATA .
      • Shift Position
      • Vehicle Speed
      • Reaction Force Pressure
      • Servo Pressure
      • Accumulator Pressure

    Yes:  Go to  2.

    No:  -

  2. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE AND DRAG  .
    1. Check the following points for brake fluid leakage.
      • Brake lines between VDCCM & H/U and brake calipers of all four wheels
      • Brake booster assembly (with the master cylinder) or VDCCM & H/U
    2. Check for brake drag.

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  3.

    No:  Repair or replace the appropriate parts.

  3. AIR BLEEDING FROM BRAKE SYSTEM  .
    1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform [Brake System Air Bleeding] of [Brake Air Bleeding] in [Work Support]. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT .

    Yes:  Go to  4.

    No:  -

  4. CHECK CONNECTOR  .

    Check the connection status of the intermediate connectors (AD81, B652) and the brake stroke sensor connector.

    Is there looseness, deformation, or corrosion at the connectors?

    Yes:  Repair or replace the connector.

    No:  Go to  5.

  5. CHECK HARNESS  .
    1. Disconnect the coupling connector. (AD81, B652)
    2. Measure the voltage and resistance between terminals of the intermediate connector.
      Terminal No. Measuring condition Standard
      (B652) No. 21 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) Always 11 - 14 V
      (B652) No. 27 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) Always 11 - 14 V
      (B652) No. 11 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) IG ON 11 - 14 V
      (B652) No. 17 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) When brake pedal is depressed → Released 11 - 14 V → 1.5 V or less
      (B652) No. 23 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) Always 11 - 14 V
      (B652) No. 26 ←→ Chassis ground Switch OFF (float up) → ON (float down) 1.84 - 2.16 kΩ → Less than 1 Ω (when fluid level is low)
      (B652) No. 12 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) Always 11 - 14 V
      (B652) No. 28 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) IG ON 11 - 14 V
      (B652) No. 3 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) Driver's door closed → opened 11 - 14 V → 1.5 V or less
      (B652) No. 26 ←→ Chassis ground Always Less than 1 Ω
      (B652) No. 24 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) Always 11 - 14 V
      (B652) No. 16 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) When brake pedal is depressed → Released 11 - 14 V → 1.5 V or less
      (B652) No. 29 ←→ Chassis ground Always Less than 1 Ω
      (B652) No. 30 (+) ←→ Chassis ground (-) Always 11 - 14 V

    Do the voltage and resistance indicate the standard values?

    Yes:  Go to  6.

    No:  Repair or replace the harness.

  6. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Connect the coupling connector. (AD81, B652)
    2. Read the DTC of [Electric Brake Booster] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    If DTCs C1C61, C1C62, C1B1F are displayed, go to  A.

    If DTCs C1C63 is displayed, go to  B.

    If DTCs C1B3F, C1B4F are displayed, go to  C.

    1. Go to  7.
    2. Go to  10.
    3. Go to  14.
  7. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .
    1. Install a pressure gauge on brake calipers.
    2. Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [Servo Pressure] in [Data Monitor] of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
    3. Operate the brake pedal slowly to check [Servo Pressure].
      [Servo Pressure] [MPa] Front brake fluid pressure [MPa (kgf/cm2 )]
      0.3 - 4.3 2.0 (20.4)
      3.3 - 7.3 5.0 (51.0)
      5.3 - 9.3 7.0 (71.4)

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  8.

    No:  Replace the brake booster assembly (with the master cylinder). Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER .

  8. CHECK DISC ROTOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the brake stroke sensor connector.
    3. Repeat driving and braking tests based on result from the interview and freeze frame data.

    Does brake pedal vibrate when depressed?

    Yes:  Resurface or replace the disc rotor. Ref. to BRAKE>FRONT DISC ROTOR . Ref. to BRAKE>REAR DISC ROTOR .

    No:  Go to  9.

  9. RECHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Connect the brake stroke sensor connector.
    3. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    4. Repeat driving and braking tests based on result from the interview and freeze frame data.
    5. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for 2 minutes or more.
    6. Read the DTC of [Electric Brake Booster] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Are DTC C1C61, C1C62, and C1B1F displayed?

    Yes:  Replace the brake booster assembly (with the master cylinder). Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER .

    No:  Currently, it is normal. There may have been a temporary poor contact in the harness and connector or a temporary noise interference.

  10. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .
    1. Install a pressure gauge on brake calipers.
    2. Using Subaru Select Monitor, display [Servo Pressure] in [Data Monitor] of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
    3. Operate the brake pedal slowly to check [Servo Pressure].
      [Servo Pressure] [MPa] Front brake fluid pressure [MPa (kgf/cm2 )]
      0.3 - 4.3 2.0 (20.4)
      3.3 - 7.3 5.0 (51.0)
      5.3 - 9.3 7.0 (71.4)

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  11.

    No:  Replace the brake booster assembly (with the master cylinder). Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER .

  11. CHECK DISC ROTOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the brake stroke sensor connector.
    3. Repeat driving and braking tests based on result from the interview and freeze frame data.

    Does brake pedal vibrate when depressed?

    Yes:  Resurface or replace the disc rotor. Ref. to BRAKE>FRONT DISC ROTOR . Ref. to BRAKE>REAR DISC ROTOR .

    No:  Go to  12.

  12. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Connect the brake stroke sensor connector.
    3. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
    4. Install a pedal force meter on the brake pedal.
    5. In READY ON, depress the brake pedal once.
    6. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, display the following items in the [Data Monitor] of [Electric Brake Booster]. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .
      • Stroke Sensor 1
      • Stroke Sensor 2
    7. Operate the brake pedal slowly to check [Stroke Sensor 1] and [Stroke Sensor 2] at each pedal force.

      50 (5) 1.05 - 1.75 3.25 - 3.95

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes:  Go to  13.

    No:  Replace the brake booster assembly (with the master cylinder). Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER .

  13. RECHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Repeat driving and braking tests based on result from the interview and freeze frame data.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for 2 minutes or more.
    4. Read the DTC of [Electric Brake Booster] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Is DTC C1C63 displayed?

    Yes:  Replace the brake booster assembly (with the master cylinder). Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER .

    No:  Currently, it is normal. There may have been a temporary poor contact in the harness and connector or a temporary noise interference.

  14. RECHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Repeat driving and braking tests based on result from the interview and freeze frame data.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for 2 minutes or more.
    4. Read the DTC of [Electric Brake Booster] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to ELECTRIC BRAKE BOOSTER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    Are DTCs C1B3F and C1B4F displayed?

    Yes:  Replace the brake booster assembly (with the master cylinder). Ref. to BRAKE>BRAKE BOOSTER .

    No:  Currently, it is normal. There may have been a temporary poor contact in the harness and connector or a temporary noise interference.
