Roof Rail: Removal

  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    CAUTION: For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  2. Remove the trim panel - roof assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF TRIM>REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the bolts (2 places) securing the curtain airbag module.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not remove the clips securing the curtain airbag module. If any of the clips are removed, the curtain airbag module may not deploy properly in collision.

      If the clip is removed, replace the curtain airbag module assembly.

    • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
    • Be careful not to damage the curtain airbag module during removal.

  4. Remove the six attachment nuts and remove the roof rail.
    • Except for hybrid model

  5. Remove the gasket. (Except for hybrid model)
  6. Remove the protector and seal washer. (Hybrid model)
