Roof Molding: Removal
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage the body.
- Remove the roof rail. (Model with roof rail) Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF RAIL>REMOVAL .
- Turn over the front end of the molding - roof.
- Slide the inner fastener in the direction of the arrow using a thin flat tip screwdriver or a precision screwdriver, then remove the fastener from the stud on the vehicle side.
Right side: Slide towards the front of the vehicle.
Left side: Slide towards the rear of the vehicle.
- 4 door model, 7 locations per side
- 5 door model: without roof rail, 8 locations per side
- 5 door model (except for hybrid): model with roof rail, 6 locations per side
- 5 door model (hybrid): model with roof rail, 1 location per side
- 4 door model, 7 locations per side
- Pull up the molding - roof, and remove from the vehicle.
- When removing the carrier BRKT, remove the bolts (2 places) that secure the trim panel - roof assembly and the curtain airbag module.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from the battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the trim panel - roof assembly. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>ROOF TRIM>REMOVAL
- Remove the bolts (2 places) securing the curtain airbag module.CAUTION:
- Do not remove the clips securing the curtain airbag module. If any of the clips are removed, the curtain airbag module may not deploy properly in collision. If the clip is removed, replace the curtain airbag module assembly.
- Before handling the airbag system components, refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" in "AIRBAG SYSTEM". Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- Be careful not to damage the curtain airbag module during removal.
- Remove the nuts, and remove the carrier BRKT.
