Generator Resolver Circuit

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
NOTE:
  • When the faulty phenomenon is not reproduced, perform a driving test on a road where vehicle vibration tends to occur so that the phenomenon may occur.
  • When the resolver has a malfunction, the vehicle may not be able to drive smoothly.
  • When it is difficult to check the connector for connecting condition, terminal deformation poor crimping, reconnect the connector after disconnecting once, and read DTCs again to check reproduction of the condition.
  • It may be poor connection of the connector if the diagnostic condition is not reproduced. However, the diagnostic detection value may temporarily be outside the threshold due to "vibrations", "temperature change due to time passage", etc. because of the connector inspection procedure. Therefore, be sure to perform the following inspection to check that there is no abnormality in other areas.

  1. CHECK Wire harness AND CONNECTOR (Inverter with converter assembly - Generator resolver) (SHORT TO POWER SUPPLY)  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Check that the Service plug is disconnected. Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>SERVICE PLUG .
    2. Disconnect Inverter with converter assembly connector (HV24). Ref. to HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE>INVERTER AND CONVERTER ASSEMBLY .
    3. Connect the Battery (12V) ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    4. Turn to IG ON.
    5. Using a tester, measure the voltage between Inverter with converter assembly connector and chassis ground.

Repair or replace the Wire harness between Inverter with converter assembly connector and Generator resolver connector.

  2. CHECK Generator resolver  .
CAUTION: Make sure to wear insulated gloves and protective goggles during the work.
    1. Turn to IG OFF.
    2. Disconnect the ground terminal of Battery (12V). Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between Inverter with converter assembly connector terminals.
NOTE: To correct a change of the resistance value due to temperature, calculate the resistance value at 20°C (68°F) by applying the following formula:
      R20 = Rt ÷ (1 + 0.00393 x (T - 20))
      R20: Resistance value (mΩ) at 20°C (68°F)
      Rt: Measured resistance value (mΩ)
T: Temperature (°C (°F)) at measuring the resistance
