Refrigerant Recovery Procedure: Procedure
CAUTION:
- During operation, be sure to wear protective goggles and protective gloves.
- Connect the refrigerant recovery system with the manifold gauge set to discharge the refrigerant from the A/C system and recycle the gas.
- When recycling the discharged refrigerant, keep service cans on hand. Because the recovery rate with the recovery system is approx. 90%, service cans are necessary to charge the refrigerant.
- Follow the detailed operation procedure described in the operation manual attached to the refrigerant recovery system.
- Perform compressor oil return operation. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (HEV)>COMPRESSOR OIL>PROCEDURE .
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Attach the manifold gauge set.

- Check that all valves are fully closed.
- Install the low/high pressure hoses to the service ports on the low/high pressure sides of the vehicle respectively.CAUTION: Confirm that the connections are secure.
- Connect the center hose to the refrigerant recovery system.

- Fully open the expansion valve.
- Check that all connectors are locked securely.
- Make sure that the outdoor air temperature is equal to or higher than 0°C (32°F).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the A/C switch OFF so that the electric compressor does not operate.
- Turn the fan dial OFF.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, select [Expansion Valve Fully Open Mode] from the work support item list of [Air Conditioner]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>WORK SUPPORT>OPERATION .
- Follow the procedure to perform and check preparation work, then select [Execution].
- When [Expansion Valve Fully Open Mode] changes from [Stand by] → [Fully open], perform the necessary work.
- Follow the operation manual attached to the refrigerant recovery system to collect the refrigerant.
- When recovering refrigerant, use a hair dryer or other means to warm the accumulator.CAUTION:
- Do not heat to 80°C or higher because there is the risk of damaging the accumulator and surrounding parts.
- Do not use a heat gun because it may heat the accumulator and surrounding parts to 80°C or higher.
- After stopping the refrigerant recovery unit, wait for 10 minutes and then check that the pressure gauge needle has not risen to 0.01 MPa (0.1 kgf/cm 1.4 psi) or more.
If the pressure rose, continue refrigerant recovery work.
CAUTION: If the piping is disconnected when the pressure has risen, refrigerant gas may spray out. Be sure to continue recovery until the pressure does not rise.
