Section 4 (Engine Starting System & Charging System (Except For HEV)): Starter: Removal

CAUTION:
- When replacing the starter of model with Auto Start Stop, be sure to perform [Start count clearing] after the service. Ref. to AUTO START STOP (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT .
- When replacing the starter of model with Auto Start Stop, be sure to replace the fuel pump relay at the same time. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>FUEL PUMP RELAY .
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the clip from the air intake boot, and loosen the clamp.
- Remove the air intake boot, and place it aside so that it does not interfere with the work.CAUTION: Be careful not to pull out the PCV hose.
- Remove the front wheel LH. Ref. to WHEEL AND TIRE SYSTEM>TIRE AND WHEEL>REMOVAL
.NOTE: If the front exhaust pipe is removed, the work can be performed without removing the front wheel LH.
- Disconnect the connector, terminal B and ground terminal.CAUTION: In order to prevent damaging the ground terminal, fix the ground terminal when loosing the bolt, and avoid the part from rotating together while loosening the bolt.
- Remove the cable stay and starter.NOTE:
- For the MT model, a bolt is used in the lower side of the starter.
- Remove from the upper side of the vehicle.
