DTC B14EA: Intake Door Actuator Circuit Short-Circuit
DTC detecting condition:
Intake door actuator potentiometer circuit is shorted.
Trouble symptom:
FRESH/RECIRC does not operate.
Wiring diagram:
Air conditioning system Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM (IMPREZA MODEL)>AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM . Ref. to WIRING SYSTEM (CROSSTREK MODEL (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM>WIRING DIAGRAM .
- CHECK CONNECTOR
.
- Check connecting condition of the A/C control panel and intake door actuator connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B14EA displayed?
Yes: Go to 2.
No: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
- CHECK ACTUATOR
.
Measure the voltage between intake door actuator connector terminals using a tester.
Connector and terminal
(i186) No. 3 (+) - (i186) No. 1 (-):
Is the voltage 4.5 - 5.5 V?
Yes: Go to 3.
No: Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
- CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check the continuity between terminals in intake door actuator connector using a tester.
Connector and terminal
(i186) No. 1 - (i88) No. 30:
(i186) No. 2 - (i88) No. 32:
(i186) No. 3 - (i88) No. 16:
Is there continuity?
Yes: Go to 4.
No: Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
- CHECK ACTUATOR
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage between intake door actuator connector terminals using a tester.
Connector and terminal
(i186) No. 2 (+) - (i186) No. 1 (-):
Is the voltage 0.5 - 4.5 V?
Yes: Replace the A/C control panel. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>CONTROL PANEL .
No: Go to 5.
- CHECK HARNESS (SHORTED BETWEEN LINES)
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Measure the resistance between intake door actuator connector terminals using a tester.
Connector and terminal
(i186) No. 2 - (i186) No. 1:
Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?
Yes: Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.
No: Replace the intake door actuator. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>FRESH/RECIRC DOOR ACTUATOR .
