DTC B14A7: Variable Solenoid Valve Circuit
DTC detecting condition:
Variable flow change solenoid valve circuit is open or shorted.
Trouble symptom:
Refrigerant pressure cannot be changed.
Wiring diagram:

- CHECK CONNECTOR
.
- Check connecting condition of the A/C control panel connector and variable flow change solenoid connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B14A7 displayed? (Current malfunction)
Yes: Go to 2.
No: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
- ACTIVE TEST
.
- Attach the manifold gauge.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Active Test] of [Air Conditioner]. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>ACTIVE TEST .
- Variable Flow Change Sol Duty Setting
Did the variable flow change solenoid operate to the specified target, and the pressure change?
Yes: Variable flow change solenoid circuit is normal.
No: Go to 3.
- CHECK VARIABLE FLOW CHANGE SOLENOID
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the variable flow change solenoid connector.
- Using a tester, measure the resistance between terminals of the solenoid.
Terminals
(F160) No. 1 - (F160) No. 2:
Is the resistance 10 - 12 Ω?
Yes: Go to 4.
No: Replace the compressor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>COMPRESSOR .
- CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)
.
- Disconnect the A/C control panel connector.
- Using a tester, check for continuity between the harness terminals.
Connector and terminal
(F160) No. 2 - (i88) No. 11:
(F160) No. 1 - Chassis ground:
Is there continuity?
Yes: Go to 5.
No: Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
- CHECK HARNESS (SHORTED BETWEEN LINES AND SHORTED TO GROUND)
.
Using a tester, check for continuity between the harness terminals.
Connector and terminal
(F160) No. 2 - Chassis ground:
(F160) No. 1 - (F160) No. 2:
Is there continuity?
Yes: Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.
No: Replace the A/C control panel. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>CONTROL PANEL ).
