DTC B1435: Evaporator Temperature Sensor Circuit Short-Circuit
DTC detecting condition:
Evaporator sensor circuit is shorted.
Trouble symptom:
- Compressor does not operate. (Variable compressor)
- Evaporator temperature is falsely recognized as low, and the compartment temperature is adjusted.
Wiring diagram:

- CHECK CONNECTOR

- Check connecting condition of the A/C control panel connector and evaporator sensor connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B1435 displayed? (Current malfunction)
Yes: Go to 2.
No: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause. - CHECK EVAPORATOR SENSOR

- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the evaporator sensor.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Read the DTC of [Air Conditioner] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
Is DTC B1434 displayed? (Current malfunction)
Yes: Replace the evaporator sensor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>EVAPORATOR SENSOR .
No: Go to 3.
- CHECK HARNESS

Using a tester, measure the voltage between terminals in evaporator sensor connector.
Connector and terminal
(i172) No. 1 (+) - (i172) No. 2 (-):
Is the voltage 4.5 - 5.5 V?
Yes: Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.
NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.No: Go to 4.
- CHECK HARNESS (SHORTED BETWEEN LINES)

- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the connector from the A/C control panel.
- Using a tester, check the continuity between terminals in evaporator sensor connector.
Connector and terminal
(i172) No. 1 - (i172) No. 2:
Is there continuity?
Yes: Repair or replace the short circuit of the harness.
No: Replace the A/C control panel. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>CONTROL PANEL .
