EGR Cooler: Removal

CAUTION: If the engine coolant is spilled over the engine or the exhaust pipe, completely wipe it off to avoid emission of smoke or causing a fire.
  1. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  2. When the EGR temperature sensor is not removed from the EGR cooler
    NOTE: When the EGR temperature sensor is not removed from the EGR cooler, also perform the following steps.
    1. Disconnect the EGR temperature sensor connector.
  3. When the EGR temperature sensor is removed from the EGR cooler
    NOTE: When the EGR temperature sensor is removed from the EGR cooler, also perform the following steps.
    1. Remove the EGR temperature sensor. Ref. to EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES) (H4DO(HEV))>EGR TEMPERATURE SENSOR>REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the EGR control valve. Ref. to EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES) (H4DO(HEV))>EGR CONTROL VALVE>REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the clip.

  6. Disconnect the water hose (A) and the water hose (B).

  7. Remove the EGR cooler.
    CAUTION: When removing the EGR cooler, plug the water hoses to avoid emission of smoke or fire due to engine coolant flowing into the front exhaust pipes. If the engine coolant enter into the front exhaust pipes, completely remove and clean it.

  8. Remove the water hose.
NOTE: Remove if necessary.
