Driver's Side Seat Ventilation Level Does Not Change (Display Changes, But Operation Does Not Change)

Trouble symptom: 

When the driver's side seat ventilation switch is touched, the display on the center information display changes, but the operation mode does not change

Trouble causes: 

Wiring diagram: 

Seat ventilation system. Refer to WIRING SYSTEM>Seat Ventilation System>WIRING DIAGRAM .

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Refer to VENTILATION SEAT (DIAGNOSTICS)>General Description>CAUTION .
  1. CHECK SEAT VENTILATION SWITCH DISPLAY  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Touch the seat indicator on the center information display.
    3. Check if the seat ventilation switch is displayed under the seat heater switch.

    Is the seat ventilation switch displayed?

    Yes  : Go to  2.

    No  : Refer to VENTILATION SEAT (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostics with Phenomenon>INSPECTION>SEAT VENTILATION SWITCH IS NOT DISPLAYED .

  2. CHECK PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT VENTILATION OPERATION  .
    1. Start the engine.
    2. Touch the passenger's side seat ventilation switch on the center information display.
    3. Check if the passenger's side seat ventilation operates.

    Is the passenger's side seat ventilation operating properly?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Refer to VENTILATION SEAT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT VENTILATION LEVEL DOES NOT CHANGE (DISPLAY CHANGES, BUT OPERATION DOES NOT CHANGE) .

  3. CHECK IF BOTH THE BACK REST SIDE AND CUSHION SIDE ARE OPERATING  .

    Check if the blowers for both the back rest and cushion are operating.

    Are both the back rest side and cushion side not functioning properly?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

    No  : Refer to VENTILATION SEAT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>BLOWER ON ONE SIDE (BACK REST SIDE OR CUSHION SIDE) DOES NOT OPERATE .

  4. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    2. Read the following DTCs using Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to VENTILATION SEAT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
    • Ventilation Seat
    • Body Control
    • Air Conditioner
    • Cockpit Control

    Are any DTCs displayed?

    Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Refer to VENTILATION SEAT (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to AIR CONDITIONER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    No  : Go to  5.

  5. CHECK CONNECTOR  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Check connecting condition of the seat ventilation Control Module connector (St41), seat connectors (L57) (R57), coupling connectors (B43) (L51) (R51) (St21) (St22), and blower connectors (St71) (St72).

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  6.

    No  : Repair the connector.

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR  .

    Check malfunctions (terminal bends, etc.) of the ventilation blower connectors (St72) (St74), seat connectors (St2) (St1), and in-seat connector (St22).

    Is the check result OK?

    Yes  : Go to  7.

    No  : Repair the connector.

  7. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Disconnect the driver's side ventilation blower connector (St72), seat connector (St2), and in-seat connector (St22).
    2. Using the tester, measure the resistance between terminals.

    Connector & terminal 

    (St72) No. 1 - (St2) No. 13:

    (St72) No. 2 - (St2) No. 11:

    (St72) No. 3 - (St2) No. 8:

    (St4) No. 7 - (St2) No. 8:

    (St4) No. 12 - (St2) No. 13:

    (St4) No. 14 - (St2) No. 11:

    Is the resistance less than 5 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  8.

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.

  8. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Disconnect the passenger's side seat connector (St1) and seat ventilation Control Module connector (St41).
    2. Using the tester, measure the resistance between terminals.

    Connector & terminal 

    (St41) No. 5 - (St1) No. 11:

    (St41) No. 14 - (St1) No. 13:

    Is the resistance less than 5 Ω?

    Yes  : Go to  9.

    No  : Repair or replace the faulty parts of the passenger's side harness and connector.

  9. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Disconnect the driver's side seat connector (L57) and passenger's side seat connector (R57).
    2. Using the tester, measure the resistance between terminals.

    Connector & terminal 

    (L57) No. 11 - (R57) No. 11:

    (L57) No. 13 - (R57) No. 13:

    Is the resistance less than 5 Ω?

    Yes  : Replace the power unit blower cushion LH and the power unit blower back rest LH. Refer to SEATS>SEAT VENTILATION SYSTEM .

    No  : Repair or replace the open circuit of harness.
