Mirror Surface Moves Unexpectedly (Both Sides)
Trouble causes:
- Short circuit to ground in harness
- Outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) malfunction
- Power seat Control Module malfunction
- TCM failure
- Memory switch malfunction
- CHECK DTC
.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for 20 seconds or more.
- Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read the DTCs in [Door Mirror (Driver)], [Power Seat Memory] and [Transmission]. Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to POWER SEAT MEMORY (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
. Refer to TRANSMISSION (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
- Door Mirror (Driver)
- Power Seat Memory
- Transmission
Are any DTCs displayed? (Current malfunction)
Yes : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to POWER SEAT MEMORY (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to TRANSMISSION (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC).
No : Go to 2.
- CHECK PHENOMENON
.
Check that the mirror surface position moves automatically linking with seat operation.
Does the mirror surface position move linking with seat operation?
Yes : Go to 3.
No : Go to 7.
- CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Check that the following connectors are properly connected. Repair the connector if any broken pin or poor mating is detected.
- Memory switch connector
- Outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check that the faulty phenomenon is reproduced.
Is the faulty phenomenon reproduced?
Yes : Go to 4.
No : Since the poor contact of connector has repaired, the circuit condition returned to normal.
- CHECK MEMORY SWITCH
.
Check memory switch unit. Refer to SEATS>POWER SEAT SYSTEM .
Is the memory switch OK?
Yes : Go to 5.
No : Replace the memory switch. Refer to SEATS>POWER SEAT SYSTEM .
- CHECK HARNESS (GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT)
.
- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- Disconnect the outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector.
- Disconnect the memory switch connector.
- Using a tester, measure the resistance between outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(Df21) No. 5 - Chassis ground:
(Df21) No. 6 - Chassis ground:
Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more?
Yes : Go to 6.
No : Repair the short circuit to ground between outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector and memory switch connector.
- CHECK INPUT SIGNAL

Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the input signal on the [Data monitor] of [Door Mirror (Driver)]. Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTIC)>DATA MONITOR .
- Memory SW1
- Memory SW2
Does the display change properly corresponding to the memory switch operation?
Yes : Perform the diagnosis for power seat Control Module. Refer to POWER SEAT MEMORY (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
No : Replace the outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat). Refer to GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>OUTER MIRROR Control Module .
- CHECK INPUT SIGNAL
.
Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the input signal on the [Data monitor] of [Door Mirror (Driver)]. Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTIC)>DATA MONITOR .
- Shift Position Signal
Does the display change correctly according to the select lever operation?
Yes : Replace the outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) and check if any malfunction occurs. Refer to GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>OUTER MIRROR Control Module . If a malfunction occurs, replace the power seat Control Module. Refer to SEATS>POWER SEAT SYSTEM .
No : Perform the diagnosis for TCM. Refer to TRANSMISSION (DIAGNOSTICS)>Basic Diagnostic Procedure .
