Front Door Step Light Does Not Illuminate (Driver's Seat)

Trouble causes: 

CAUTION: Before performing diagnosis, refer to "CAUTION" in "General Description". Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTICS)>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  1. CHECK BATTERY  .

    Check the battery unit. Refer to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DO)>BATTERY . Refer to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>BATTERY .

    Is the battery OK?

    Yes  : Go to  2.

    No  : Replace or charge the battery.

  2. CHECK FUSE  .

    Check the fuse. Refer to GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>RELAY AND FUSE .

    Is the fuse OK?

    Yes  : Go to  3.

    No  : Replace the fuse. When the replaced fuse is blown immediately, repair the power supply circuit.

  3. CHECK IGNITION SWITCH  .

    Check the vehicle ignition switch status.

    Is the ignition switch ON or ACC?

    Yes  : Go to  4.

    No  : Turn the ignition switch to ON or ACC, and check the operation.

  4. CHECK DTC  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for 20 seconds or more.
    2. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, read the DTCs of [Door Mirror (Driver)] and [Body Control]. Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .
      • Door Mirror (Driver)
      • Body Control

    Are any DTCs displayed? (Current malfunction)

    Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

    No  : Go to  5.

  5. CHECK FRONT DOOR STEP LIGHT (DRIVER'S SEAT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the front door step light (driver's seat) connector (Df60).
    3. Apply battery voltage between front door step light (driver's seat) connector terminals, and check if the light illuminates.

      Connector & terminal 

      No. 2 (+) - No. 1 (-):

    Does the light illuminate?

    Yes  : Go to  6.

    No  : Replace the front door step light (driver's seat). Refer to LIGHTING SYSTEM>DOOR STEP LIGHT .

  6. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Check that the following connectors are properly connected. Repair the connector if any broken pin or poor mating is detected.
      • Front door step light (driver's seat) connector
      • Outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector
      • Body integrated unit connector
    3. Open the driver's side door, and check if the front door step light (driver's seat) illuminates.

    Does the light illuminate?

    Yes  : Since the poor contact of connector has repaired, the circuit condition returned to normal.

    No  : Go to  7.

  7. CHECK INPUT SIGNAL  .

    Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Data monitor] of [Door Mirror (Driver)]. Refer to DOOR MIRROR (DIAGNOSTIC)>DATA MONITOR .

    • Driver's Door Open Status Signal
    • Half Door Status Signal
    • Back-Up Fuse Status

    Does the display change correctly according to the vehicle conditions?

    Yes  : Go to  8.

    No  : Perform diagnosis for the body integrated unit. Refer to BODY CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

  8. CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT)  .
    1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
    2. Disconnect the outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector.
    3. Disconnect the front door step light (driver's seat) connector (Df60).
    4. Using a tester, measure the resistance between outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector and front door step light (driver's seat) connector.

      Connector & terminal 

      (Df22) No. 5 - (Df60) No. 2:

    Is the resistance less than 10 Ω?

    Yes  : Replace the outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat). Refer to GLASS/WINDOWS/MIRRORS>OUTER MIRROR Control Module .

    No  : Repair the open circuit of harness between outer mirror Control Module (driver's seat) connector and front door step light (driver's seat) connector.
