Sound Does Not Come Out From The Speaker

Probable cause: 

Speaker malfunction, amplifier malfunction, unit body malfunction

1. CHECK DTC  .
   1. Turn the ignition switch OFF→ ON.
   2. Read the DTC of [Cockpit Control] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

   Is DTC B2244 displayed? (Current malfunction)

   Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTC B2244.

   No  : Go to  2.

2. CHECK THE MODE IN WHICH NO SOUND COME OUT  .

   Check if sound comes out in each mode such as CD, radio, etc.

   Does it sound in all modes?

   Yes  : Go to  3.

   No  : Check each mode in which no sound come out.

   For CD: Refer to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>CDS CANNOT BE PLAYED BACK .

   For radio: Refer to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostics with Phenomenon>INSPECTION>RADIO VOLUME IS LOW OR INTERFERENCE NOISE OCCURS .

   For Bluetooth audio: Refer to COCKPIT CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTICS WITH PHENOMENON>INSPECTION>BLUETOOTH CONNECTION CANNOT BE ESTABLISHED .

3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST  .

   Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the following items in the [Active Test] of [Cockpit Control].

   • Speaker Output Check
   • Speaker Output Check (Harman/Kardon Audio Speakers)

   Does it sound in all speakers?

   Yes  : Go to  4.

   No  : Model with power amplifier: Check the harnesses between the unit and power amplifier and between power amplifier and speaker for open circuit or short circuit. If no fault is found, replace the speaker.

   Model without power amplifier: Check the harness between the unit and speaker for open circuit or short circuit. If no fault is found, replace the speaker.

4. CHECK MUTE MODE  .

   Check if the MUTE mode is set to on when the MUTE button is installed.

   Is the MUTE mode set to on?

   Yes  : Since the MUTE mode is set to on, sound did not come out.

   No  : Go to  5.

5. CHECK DTC (MODEL WITH TELEMATICS)  .

   Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Refer to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

   Are DTCs B2A0E (mute line circuit), B2A05 (left speaker/audio circuit) and B2A06 (right speaker/audio circuit) displayed?

   Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for the displayed DTCs. Refer to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)>LIST .

   No  : Go to  6.

6. CHECK CONNECTOR  .

   Check for poor contact in the connector of the unit and the connector of each speaker. Check for poor contact in the amplifier connector for models with amplifier.

   Is the check result OK?

   Yes  : Replace the cockpit control module. Refer to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>COCKPIT DISPLAY .

   No  : Repair or replace the harness.
