Side Airbag Sensor: Removal

CAUTION:

Before handling the airbag system components, refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
Airbag system satellite safing sensor is located under the front center of the rear seat cushion. Be careful not to apply strong impact to the sensor when working with the rear seat cushion removed.

Move the seat all the way forward, from which the side airbag sensor is to be removed.
NOTE: This is to remove the seat belt retractor assembly.
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Disconnect the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
NOTE:
- For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
- For models with the power seat, move the seat to the front-most position before disconnecting the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor or disconnecting the battery negative terminal.
Remove the rear seat cushion assembly. Refer to SEATS>REAR SEAT>REMOVAL .
Remove the cover side sill - front INN, cover side sill - rear INN, and trim panel - center pillar LWR. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>LOWER INNER TRIM>REMOVAL .
Remove the seat belt retractor. (On the side where the side airbag sensor is removed)
1. Turn over the floor mat to disconnect the belt tension sensor connector. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>PASSENGER'S AIRBAG MODULE AND SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER .
  NOTE: Also disconnect the connector of the passenger's lap seat belt pretensioner. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>KNEE AIRBAG MODULE AND PASSENGER'S LAP SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER .
2. Remove the bolt to remove the seat belt retractor.

Remove the nuts and then remove the side airbag sensor. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR AND CURTAIN AIRBAG SENSOR .
