Front Door Impact Sensor: Removal

CAUTION:
  • Before handling the airbag system components, refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
  • When the front door impact sensor is removed, always replace it with a new front door impact sensor. If it is reused, sealing capability on the contacting surface of door panel may be insufficient and impact pressure may not be detected correctly.
  1. Operate the power window switch to close the front door glass.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  3. Disconnect the ground terminal from the 12V engine restart battery sensor, and wait for at least 60 seconds before starting work. Refer to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
    NOTE: For the hybrid model, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  4. Remove the trim panel - front door. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>DOOR TRIM>REMOVAL>FRONT DOOR .
  5. Remove the sealing cover. Refer to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>SEALING COVER>REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the front door impact sensor.
    CAUTION:
    • Do not reuse the front door impact sensor if it is once removed. Be sure to replace the front door impact sensor with a new part.
    • The nuts cannot be removed from the front door impact sensor. Do not remove the mounting nuts.
    1. Remove the plate - door UPR (a).
      CAUTION: If the clip is damaged, replace it with a new part because the panel assembly - front door may be deformed.
    2. Loosen the nuts, and remove the front door impact sensor with the claws (b) pressed.
    3. Disconnect the airbag connector and remove the front door impact sensor. Refer to AIRBAG SYSTEM>AIRBAG CONNECTOR>PROCEDURE>FRONT DOOR IMPACT SENSOR .
