Automatic Transmission Fluid: Inspection

CAUTION:
- When checking the ATF level, check at the specified ATF temperature.
- Do not add ATF when cold since the oil may spray out.
NOTE:
Unless the conditions are severe, it is not necessary to change the ATF.
- Prepare the ATF for refilling.
- Connect the Subaru Select Monitor.
- Navigate to Inspection Mode for measuring Exhaust Gas. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT>OPERATION>SERVICE MODE
.NOTE: If it is necessary to run the engine for 10 minutes or more, fasten the driver's seat belt.
- Display [ATF Temp.] and raise it to 35 - 45°C (95 - 113°F).CAUTION: Make sure to perform the ATF level inspection within the [ATF Temp.] range of 35 - 45°C (95 - 113°F).
- With the engine idling, lift up the vehicle and remove the overflow plug (A).NOTE:
- ATF is at the specified level when it reaches the bottom of the overflow plug hole.
- Prepare the container for draining of engine oil.
- If the ATF level is below the bottom of the overflow plug hole, check for oil leakage, and add the specified ATF.CAUTION: Always use specified ATF. ATF other than specified ATF will cause malfunction.
ATF:
Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS .
- Using a new gasket, install the overflow plug.
Tightening torque:
50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 36.9 ft-lb)
