DTC P059A: Active Grille Air Shutter "A" Position Sensor Circuit: Notes

DTC detecting condition:
Immediately at fault recognition
NOTE:
After the faulty parts are repaired or replaced, perform the final check in Basic Diagnostic Procedure. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO (HEV))>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE>PROCEDURE

- CHECK ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER
.
Check the area around the active grille shutter louver, louver link and actuator.
Is there any abnormality such as a foreign matter adhered or pinched and a frost?
Yes: Remove the foreign matter from the active grille shutter and go to the next step. Go to 2.
No: Go to 2.
- CHECK ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER
.
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the front bumper. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT BUMPER>REMOVAL .
- Check the area around the active grille shutter louver, louver link and actuator.
Is there any damage in each part of the active grille shutter?
Yes: Replace the active grille shutter. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER .
No: Go to 3.
- CHECK ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER
.
- Connect the battery ground terminal. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Wait for approx. 30 seconds with the ignition switch OFF.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.NOTE: Make sure that the ambient temperature is equal to or higher than 7°C (44.6°F).
- Navigate to Inspection Mode for measuring Exhaust Gas. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS>WORK SUPPORT>OPERATION>SERVICE MODE
.NOTE: If it is necessary to run the engine for 10 minutes or more, fasten the driver's seat belt.
- Three minutes after starting the engine, perform the operation check for the active grille shutter using the Subaru Select Monitor.NOTE: For detailed operation procedures, refer to the "Active Test". Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO (HEV))>ACTIVE TEST .
Does the open/close operation finish correctly?
Yes: Even if (DTC is detected, it has returned to a normal condition at this time.
NOTE: In this case, it is assumed that the active grille shutter may have temporarily had a foreign matter adhered/pinched or a frost.No: Replace the active grille shutter. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>ACTIVE GRILLE SHUTTER .
