Inverter Assembly Side

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
CAUTION:
  • During work, set the select lever to "P" range and do not shift the lever.
  • If the engine coolant splashes, completely remove and clean it.
NOTE: The SUBARU Super Coolant contains anti-freeze and anti-rust agents. Be sure to use SUBARU Super Coolant, since other coolant may cause corrosion.

Engine coolant: 

Refer to "RECOMMENDED MATERIALS" for engine coolant. Ref. to RECOMMENDED MATERIALS .

Engine coolant concentration: 

Refer to "ADJUSTMENT" for the recommended engine coolant concentration. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>ENGINE COOLANT>ADJUSTMENT .

Engine coolant level: 

Refer to "SPECIFICATION" for engine coolant level. Ref. to COOLING (H4DO (HEV))>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>SPECIFICATION .

  1. Remove the screw (A) and clips, and turn over the mud guard - front RH.

  2. Remove the clamp.

  3. Disconnect the quick connector from the inverter water pump.
    NOTE:
    • Disconnect the quick connector as shown in the figure.
    • Be careful not to pull the slider too much.

  4. Fill the inverter tank with engine coolant until the engine coolant comes out of the outlet pipe (A) of the inverter water pump, and connect the quick connector.
    CAUTION:
    • Add up enough engine coolant to prevent it from being depleted in the inverter tank.
    • Check that there is no damage or dust on the quick connector. If necessary, clean the seal surface of the pipe.
    • When connecting the quick connector, make sure to insert it all the way in before locking the slider.
    • When it is difficult to lock the slider, check that the connector is fully inserted.
    • After locking the slider, pull the quick connector body in the removal direction and then push it in the connecting direction, in order to check that the quick connector is securely connected. Always make sure to perform this confirmation ending up with a pushing in.
    NOTE: Connect the quick connector as shown in the figure.

  5. Install the clamp.

  6. Fill the inverter tank with engine coolant until the engine coolant level comes up to "FULL".
  7. Navigate to Inspection Mode for measuring Exhaust Gas. Ref. to P-HEV HYBRID POWERTRAIN CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS)>WORK SUPPORT>OPERATION>SERVICE MODE .
    CAUTION: When navigated to Inspection Mode for measuring Exhaust Gas, the inverter water pump starts to operate, then the engine coolant in the inverter tank begins to decrease. Therefore be sure to prepare for filling the engine coolant beforehand.
    NOTE: If it is necessary to run the engine for 10 minutes or more, fasten the driver's seat belt.
  8. Add up enough engine coolant to prevent it from being depleted in the inverter tank.
    NOTE: Engine coolant will decrease until the air is completely bled from the inverter cooling system.
  9. When the engine coolant in the inverter tank stops decreasing, exit Inspection Mode for measuring Exhaust Gas.
  10. Fill the inverter tank with engine coolant until the engine coolant level comes up to "FULL".
  11. Install the inverter tank cap.
  12. Set the mud guard - front RH to the original position and install the screw (A) and clips.

  13. Install the undercover - front. Ref. to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT UNDERCOVER>INSTALLATION .
