Electronic Parking Brake Indicator Light Is Blinking

Detecting condition:  When VDC Control Module & H/U was replaced

• When fault was detected or electronic parking brake switch was operated under faulty condition
• When electronic parking brake switch was operated during maintenance mode
• When electronic parking brake was operated while the vehicle was running on the free roller or while the tires were rotating with a help of the free roller
• When electronic parking brake was operated with the brake high in temperature or operated on a steep slope

Trouble symptom:  Electronic parking brake may not operate properly.

1. CHECK VDC Control Module & H/U  .
   NOTE: If VDC Control Module & H/U was not replaced, start the diagnosis from step 2.

   Was electronic parking brake operated after replacement of VDC Control Module & H/U?

   Yes  : Go to  2.

   No  : It is normal if the electronic parking brake operation indicator light comes on by operating the electronic parking brake and goes off by disengaging.

2. CHECK ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT  .

   Turn the ignition switch to ON. (Engine OFF)

   Does electronic parking brake warning light illuminate?

   Yes  : Perform the diagnosis according to the DTC. Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

   No  : Go to  3.

3. CHECK VEHICLE CONDITION  .

   Is the brake condition other than overheating?

   Is the electronic parking brake is operated except on a steep road?

   Yes  : Normal.

   No  : Go to  4.

4. CHECK DRIVING CONDITION  .

   Was the vehicle running except on the free roller?

   Yes  : Normal.

   No  : Go to  5.

5. CHECK OPERATION OF ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE  .
   1. Using the Subaru Select Monitor, perform the clear memory of [Brake Control]. Ref. to COMMON (DIAG)>CLEAR MEMORY .
   2. Execute the inspection mode, Ref. to BRAKE CONTROL (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>INSPECTION MODE .

      Does electronic parking brake operation indicator light blink?

      Yes  : Replace the VDC Control Module & H/U. Ref. to VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL (VDC)>VDC CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (VDCCM & H/U) .

      No  : Electronic parking brake was temporarily prohibited.
