DTC B2A15: VIN Data Response

Diagnosis start condition: 

When ignition switch is ON.

DTC detecting condition: 

When ignition switch is ON, VIN information (CAN) sent from ECM cannot be read.

Trouble symptom: 

• Telematics function cannot be used.
• RED LED illuminates.

1. CHECK DTC  .

   Read the DTC of [Telematics] using the Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

   Is DTC B2A15 displayed? (Current malfunction)

   Yes  : Go to  2.

   No  : Even if DTC is displayed, the circuit has returned to a normal condition at this time. Reproduce the failure, and then perform the diagnosis again.

   NOTE: In this case, temporary poor contact of connector, temporary open or short circuit of harness may be the cause.
2. CHECK DTC  .

   Read the following DTCs using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to TELEMATICS SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS)>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO (EXCEPT FOR HEV))>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO (HEV))>DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) .

   • Telematics
   • Engine

   Is DTC U**** displayed? (Current malfunction)

   Yes  : Perform the diagnosis for LAN system. Ref. to LAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Ref. to LAN SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTICS) (HEV)>BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .

   No  : Go to  3.

3. CHECK DATA MONITOR  .

   Confirm VIN information from the engine OBD mode. Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO (HEV))>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) . Ref. to ENGINE (DIAGNOSTICS) (H4DO) (EXCEPT FOR HEV)>GENERAL SCAN TOOL>OPERATION>MODE $09 (REQUEST VEHICLE INFORMATION) .

   Is VIN information displayed?

   Yes  : Replace the Data Communication Module. Ref. to ENTERTAINMENT & MONITORING>DATA COMMUNICATION MODULE .

   No  : Replace the ECM. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO (HEV))>ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) .
