Differential Side Retainer Oil Seal: Replacement
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Remove the front tires.
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Remove the front exhaust pipe and center exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (STI)>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>REMOVAL .
- Drain transmission gear oil completely. Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL (6MT) (TY85)>TRANSMISSION GEAR OIL>REPLACEMENT .
- Separate the front drive shaft from the transmission. Refer to DRIVE SHAFT SYSTEM>FRONT DRIVE SHAFT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the differential side retainer oil seal by using a flat tip screwdriver or similar tools.
- Using the ST, install the differential side retainer oil seal by lightly tapping with a hammer.
ST 18675AA000 DIFFERENTIAL SIDE OIL SEAL INSTALLER - Apply transmission gear oil to the oil seal lips.
- Set the ST to the differential side retainer.
ST 28399SA010 OIL SEAL PROTECTOR - Install the front drive shaft into the transmission.NOTE: Replace the circlip of drive shaft with a new part.
- Install the front drive shaft into transmission, remove the ST and insert the drive shaft securely.
ST 28399SA010 OIL SEAL PROTECTOR - Install the front exhaust pipe and the center exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (STI)>FRONT EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION .
- Pour transmission gear oil to the bottom end of filler plug. Refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DIFFERENTIAL (6MT) (TY85)>TRANSMISSION GEAR OIL>REPLACEMENT .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the front tires.
- Connect the battery ground terminal.
