Section 15 (Engine Cooling System (Except For STI)): Thermostat: Installation

Install a gasket to thermostat.
NOTE:
- Use a new gasket.
- Align the positions of the jig pin (a) and gasket ribs (b).

Install the thermostat and thermostat cover.
NOTE: Align the oil pan upper cutout (a) with the position of the thermostat rib (b).

Tightening torque:

6.4 N.m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb)

Connect the radiator outlet hose to thermostat cover.

Install the center exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST (EXCEPT FOR STI)>CENTER EXHAUST PIPE>INSTALLATION .
Install the undercover. Refer to EXTERIOR/INTERIOR TRIM>FRONT UNDER COVER>INSTALLATION .
Lower the vehicle.
Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Refer to NOTE>NOTE>BATTERY .
Fill engine coolant. Refer to COOLING (EXCEPT FOR STI)>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
