How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

NOTE:
  • Use these procedures to troubleshoot the engine immobilizer system.
  • *: Use the SSM4.
  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP
  2. INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE

    Standard voltage: 11 to 14V 

    If the voltage is below 11V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

    NOTE: A simple method to determine whether the battery is depleted is to operate the horn.
  3. CAN communication system check
    1. Check CAN communication system. (Refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )
      RESULT DESCRIPTION

      Result Proceed to
      Functioning properly A
      Not functioning properly B
      1. Go to next step
      2. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (Refer to HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT )
  4. CHECK FOR DTC*
    1. Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output. (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR )
      RESULT DESCRIPTION

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      Engine related DTC is output B
      Engine immobilizer system DTC is output C
    2. Based on the DTCs output above, proceed to each diagnostic procedure.
      1. Go to next step
      2. To engine control system
      3. PROCEED TO DTC CHART (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )
  5. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
    1. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE . (See )
      RESULT DESCRIPTION

      Result Proceed to
      Fault is not listed in problem symptoms table A
      Fault is listed in problem symptoms table B
      1. Go to next step
      2. Go to step 7
  6. OVERALL ANALYSIS AND TROUBLESHOOTING*
    1. Data monitor/active test (Refer to DATA MONITOR/ACTIVE TEST )
    2. ECM terminal arrangement. (See ECM TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT )
  7. ADJUST, REPAIR OR REPLACE
  8. CHECK FOR DTC*
    1. Clear the DTCs. (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR )
    2. Check for DTCs. (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR )
      NOTE: Before checking for DTCs, perform the "DTC Output Confirmation Operation" of each diagnostic procedure. (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )
      RESULT DESCRIPTION

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      Engine immobilizer system DTC is output B
      1. Go to next step
      2. GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )
