Evaporator Sensor: Inspection
- Prepare the vehicle.NOTE: Check that the ambient temperature is 25 - 40°C (77 - 104°F) and that the humidity is 30% - 80%.
- Place the vehicle in the workshop or in the shade and windless condition.
- Open all windows.
- Set the vehicle to the following conditions.
Item Condition Engine Idling Air vent grille Shutter is fully open. AC switch OFF Temperature adjustment dial LO (MAX COOL) FRESH/RECIRC switch RECIRC Air flow control switch VENT Fan switch (auto A/C model) 5/7 level Fan dial (manual A/C model) 3/4 level - Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the evaporator sensor.NOTE: For detailed operation procedures, refer to "Application help".
- Connect the Subaru Select Monitor.
- On «Start» display, select «Diagnosis».
- On «Vehicle selection» display, enter vehicle information and select «Confirmed».
- On «Select System» display, select «Air Conditioner» and select «Enter».
- On «Select Function» display, select «Data Monitor».
- From the data monitor item list, select «Evaporator Temperature Target».
- Idle the engine for 15 minutes, and then compare the air flow outlet temperature with «Evaporator Temperature Target».

NOTE: For outlet opening temperature, measure the average temperature of center grille assembly and side grille assembly. - Do the air flow outlet temperature and «Evaporator Temperature Target» differ by 3°C (5.4°F) or more?
- Yes → Go to step 4).
- No → Evaporator sensor is normal.
- Check the evaporator sensor.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Measure the resistance between connector terminals.

- Yes → Evaporator sensor is normal.
- No → Replace the evaporator sensor.
