DTC PROCEDURE

Step Check Yes No
1 CHECK CONNECTOR
Check the connector (B598) of 12V engine restart battery sensor
Is there looseness or poor contact of connector? Repair the connector. Go to step .
2 CHECK HARNESS (OPEN CIRCUIT).
  1. Disconnect the HPCM connector.
  2. Disconnect the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector.
  3. Using a tester, measure the resistance between the HPCM connector and 12V engine restart battery sensor connector.

    Connector & terminal

    (B605) No. 4 - (B598) No. 2:

(B598) No. 1 - 12 volt engine restart battery positive terminal:

Is the resistance less than 1 Ω? Go to step . Repair the open circuit of the harness between the HPCM connector and the 12 volt engine restart battery and the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector or replace fuses.
3 CHECK HARNESS (SHORT TO GROUND).
  1. Disconnect the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector.
  2. Using a tester, measure the resistance between HPCM connector and chassis ground.

    Connector & terminal

    (B605) No. 4 - Chassis ground:

Is the resistance 1 MΩ or more? Go to step . Repair ground short circuit of harness between the HPCM connector and the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector.
4 CHECK HARNESS (SHORT TO POWER).
Using a tester, measure the voltage between the HPCM connector and chassis ground.
Connector & terminal
(B605) No. 4 (+) - Chassis ground (-):
Is the voltage less than 1 V? Go to step . Repair the short circuit to power in harness between the HPCM connector and the 12V engine restart battery sensor connector.
5 CHECK BATTERY.
Check the 12 volt engine restart battery. < Ref. to BATTERY .>
Is the condition normal? Replace the 12V engine restart battery sensor. < Ref. to BATTERY SENSOR .> Replace or charge the battery.
