Method used: Difference method of 360 degrees CA

Monitor value: domg360 = (omg 1 - omg 0) - (omg 3 - omg 2) = angular speed

Each crankshaft angular speed is defined as Fig 1 below.

This method uses the fact that the domg360 of lean conditioned cylinder caused by imbalance malfunction indicates big value, as shown by the chain line in Fig 2 below.

The number of times for domg360 to exceed the judgment value in 1000 revolutions (500 cycles) is calculated as diagnostic value 2 (DV2). A malfunction is determined when DV2 exceeds the threshold.

Judge as NG when the following conditions are established.

Time Needed for Diagnosis: 1000 engine revs.

Malfunction Indicator Light Illumination: Illuminates when malfunction occurs in 2 continuous driving cycles.

Normality Judgment

Judge as OK and clear the NG if the following conditions are established.
