Rear Axle Shafts: Installation

  1. Insert the rear axle shaft into rear axle hub.
  2. Temporarily tighten the axle nut.
  3. Install the rear axle shaft to rear differential using the oil seal protector. See Fig 1.
  4. Attach the front lateral link and rear lateral link to housing using a new self-locking nuts. See Figure.
  5. Attach the trailing link to housing using a new self-locking nut. See Figure.
  6. Install the stabilizer link. See Figure.
  7. Install the ABS wheel speed sensor. See Figure.
  8. Using axle shaft installer and adapter, pull the rear axle shaft into place. See Fig 2.
  9. Tighten a new axle nut to specification with parking brake applied. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Lock the axle nut. See Fig 3.
  11. Install the wheel.
    CAUTION: Make the tires contact the ground fully and the vehicle be in curb weight whenever carrying out the tightening of bush portions.
  12. Make the tires contact the ground fully.
  13. Tighten the installation bolt of rear housing assembly and lateral link assembly.
  14. Tighten the installation bolt of rear housing assembly and trailing link assembly.
