Rear Axle Shafts: Installation
- Insert the rear axle shaft into rear axle hub.
- Temporarily tighten the axle nut.
- Install the rear axle shaft to rear differential using the oil seal protector. See Fig 1.
- Attach the front lateral link and rear lateral link to housing using a new self-locking nuts. See Figure.
- Attach the trailing link to housing using a new self-locking nut. See Figure.
- Install the stabilizer link. See Figure.
- Install the ABS wheel speed sensor. See Figure.
- Using axle shaft installer and adapter, pull the rear axle shaft into place. See Fig 2.
- Tighten a new axle nut to specification with parking brake applied. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Lock the axle nut. See Fig 3.
- Install the wheel.CAUTION: Make the tires contact the ground fully and the vehicle be in curb weight whenever carrying out the tightening of bush portions.
- Make the tires contact the ground fully.
- Tighten the installation bolt of rear housing assembly and lateral link assembly.
- Tighten the installation bolt of rear housing assembly and trailing link assembly.
