Rear Disc Brake Rotor: Inspection
- Set dial gauge on disc rotor. Turn disc rotor to check runout. See Fig 1
.NOTE: Securely adjust the disc rotor to hub. Make sure dial gauge is set to 0.39" (10 mm) inward of rotor outer perimeter.
- If runout of disc exceeds the limit, check for abnormal free play at the hub bearing and runout in the thrust direction. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS . See INSPECTION under REAR AXLE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in appropriate REAR AXLE SHAFTS article under DRIVELINE/AXLES.
- If hub bearing is okay, replace the disc rotor.
- Measure disc rotor thickness. See Figure
. If thickness of disc rotor is below runout limit, replace the disc rotor. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS
.NOTE: Make sure dial gauge is set to 0.39" (10 mm) inward of rotor outer perimeter.
