- Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTCs P1510, P1511, P1512, P1513, P1514, P1515, P1516 or P1517 exist, diagnose and repair those DTCs. Do not diagnose DTC P1507. If DTC P1507 is only DTC set, go to next step.
- Start engine and allow to idle. Check intake manifold, idle air control valve and throttle body for loose installation, defective, cracked gaskets and/or disconnected vacuum hoses. Repair as necessary. If no leaks or faults are detected in air intake system, go to next step.
- Ensure throttle cable is properly adjusted before proceeding. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article. Turn ignition off and remove idle air control solenoid valve from throttle body. Remove air by-pass hose and blow through hose. If air by-pass hose is clogged, replace hose. If air by-pass hose is not clogged, replace idle air control solenoid valve.
