DTC P1423: EVAP System Vent Control High Input - Forester, IMPREZA, Legacy & Outback 2.5L M/T & Outback Sport
- Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Turn ignition off. Connect test mode connector. See Figure and Figure . Turn ignition on. While using scan tool to command drain valve on and off, use DVOM connected to ground to backprobe ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 10. See Figure. If voltage switches between zero and 10 volts when drain valve is commanded on and off, go to next step. If voltage does not switch between zero and 10 volts when drain valve is commanded on and off, system has returned to normal, repair poor terminal contact in ECM connector.
- Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 10. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step 4. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check for poor terminal contact in ECM connector. Repair ECM connector as necessary. If ECM connector is okay, replace ECM.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect drain valve electrical connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 10. If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring between ECM and drain valve. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. After repair, replace ECM. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance across both terminals of drain valve. If resistance is less than one ohm, replace drain valve and ECM. If resistance is not less than one ohm, go to next step.
- Check for poor terminal contact in ECM connector. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, replace ECM. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .
