DTC P1151: Rear Ho2S Heater Circuit High Input - IMPREZA 2.2L, Legacy & Outback 2.5L M/T & Outback Sport

  1. Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Using a DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 21. See Figure. If voltage is not more than 8 volts or less, go to step  3. If voltage is more than 8 volts, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Locate and repair short to power in wiring between ECM and rear HO2S. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  . If DTC P1151 is present, replace ECM. If DTC P1151 is not present, test is complete.
  3. Using a DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 21 while wiggling harness and ECM connector. If voltage changes more than 8 volts while wiggling harness and ECM connector, repair poor terminal contact in ECM connector. If voltage does not change more than 8 volts while wiggling harness and ECM connector, go to next step.
  4. Using a DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 21 while wiggling harness and rear HO2S connector. If voltage changes more than 8 volts while wiggling harness and rear HO2S connector, repair poor terminal contact in rear HO2S connector. If voltage does not change more than 8 volts while wiggling harness and rear HO2S connector, go to next step.
  5. Using a DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 21 while wiggling rear harness connector. If voltage changes more than 8 volts while wiggling rear harness connector, repair poor terminal contact in rear harness connector. If voltage does not change more than 8 volts while wiggling rear harness connector, circuit has returned to normal. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
