DTC P1110: Atmospheric Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input - Forester, IMPREZA 2.5L & Legacy & Outback 2.5L A/T

  1. Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Start engine. Using scan tool, read intake manifold absolute pressure reading. If pressure is less than zero in. Hg, go to step  3. If pressure is not less than zero in. Hg, go to next step.
  2. Check for poor terminal contact in ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) and pressure sensor connector. Repair as necessary. If connectors are okay, system has returned to normal. Check for intermittents between ECM and atmospheric pressure sensor. See TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
  3. With DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) terminal No. 15. See Figure. If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, go to  5 If voltage is not more than 4.5 volts, go to next step.
  4. With DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) terminal No. 15 while wiggling harness and ECM connector. If voltage changes more than 4.5 volts, repair poor terminal contact in ECM connector. If voltage does not change more than 4.5 volts, contact authorized Subaru dealership because probable cause is deterioration of multiple parts.
  5. Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) terminal No. 29. If voltage is less than 0.2 volt, go to step  7. If voltage is not less than 0.2 volt, go to next step.
  6. Using scan tool, read intake manifold absolute pressure reading while wiggling and shaking harness and ECM connector. If pressure changes more than zero in. Hg, repair poor terminal contact in ECM connector. If value does not change more than zero in. Hg, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect connector from atmospheric pressure sensor. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at terminal No. 3 of atmospheric pressure sensor connector. See Figure. If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not more than 4.5 volts, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and atmospheric pressure sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector). Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) terminal No. 16 and atmospheric pressure sensor connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is not less than one ohm, locate and repair open circuit in wiring between ECM and atmospheric pressure sensor.
  9. Using an ohmmeter connected to ground, measure resistance at atmospheric pressure sensor connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is more than 500 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not more than 500 k/ohms, locate and repair short to ground in wiring between ECM and atmospheric pressure sensor.
  10. Check for poor contact in atmospheric pressure sensor connector. If connector is okay, replace atmospheric pressure sensor. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
