DTC P0328: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit High Input - Legacy & Outback 2.5L A/T

  1. Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector). Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) terminal No. 4. See Figure. If resistance is less than 400 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 400 k/ohms, go to step  3.
  2. Turn ignition off. Reconnect ECM connector. Disconnect electrical connector from KS. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and KS harness terminal No. 2. See Figure. If resistance is less than 400 k/ohms, replace KS. If resistance is not less than 400 k/ohms, locate and repair short to ground in wiring between KS and ECM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Note that wiring between both connectors is shielded. Repair circuit in wiring together with shield.
  3. Turn ignition off. Ensure ECM and KS connectors are properly connected at component. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to ground, backprobe ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) terminal No. 4. If voltage is more than 2 volts, circuit has returned to normal. Check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and KS. If voltage is not more than 2 volts, repair poor terminal contact in ECM connector. Clear memory and perform verification procedure.
