DTC P0113: Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit High Input - Forester, IMPREZA 2.5L & Legacy & Outback 2.5L A/T

  1. Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . Start engine. Using scan tool, observe intake air temperature signal. If temperature is less than -40°F (-40°C), go to next step. If temperature is not less than -40°F (-40°C), repair poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect intake air temperature and pressure sensor connector. Using a DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at intake air temperature and pressure sensor connector terminal No. 2. See Figure. If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at intake air temperature and pressure sensor connector terminal No. 2. If voltage is more than 10 volts, locate and repair short to voltage in wiring between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. If voltage is not more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Using a DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at intake air temperature and pressure sensor connector terminal No. 2. If voltage is more than 3 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not more than 3 volts, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor.
  5. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and intake air temperature and pressure sensor connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace intake air temperature and pressure sensor. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and intake air temperature and pressure sensor. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
