Timing Belt: Removal
- Remove accessory drive belt cover and remove belts. Remove A/C compressor belt tensioner (if equipped). Remove crankshaft pulley. Remove timing belt covers. If reusing timing belt, mark direction of rotation for installation reference. Remove timing belt guide (M/T only). Rotate crankshaft clockwise to align timing marks on camshaft sprockets with marks on timing belt back cover and on engine. See Fig 1.
- Using White paint, mark timing belt in relation to sprocket timing marks. See Fig 2. Remove belt idler (No. 2) and belt idler No. 2. See Fig 3. Remove timing belt. Remove belt idler (No. 1). Remove automatic belt tension adjuster assembly.
