Removal & Installation: Camshafts: Removal
- Remove timing belt and camshaft sprockets. See TIMING BELT . Remove rocker arm assembly. See ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY . Using dial indicator, measure camshaft thrust clearance. If thrust clearance is not within specifications, camshaft support must be replaced. See CAMSHAFT table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
- Remove crankshaft pulley. Remove crankshaft sprocket. Remove left-hand camshaft position sensor support. Remove oil level dipstick tube. Remove camshaft support bolt Nos. 1 and 2. See Fig 1. Equally loosen and remove bolt Nos. 3-10 in order. Using a Torx socket, remove bolt Nos. 11-16 in order. Remove camshaft support cap, camshaft, oil seal (if necessary) and camshaft plug.
