DTC P1511, P1513, P1515 & P1517: Idle Air Control (IAC) Solenoid Valve Signal No. 1-4 Circuits High Input - Except 2.2L & Legacy 2.5L M/T

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on and retrieve DTCs. If DTCs P1511, P1513, P1515 and P1517 exist at the same time, go to step  2. If DTCs P1511, P1513, P1515 and P1517 do not exist at the same time, go to step  3.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 7 and chassis ground. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in wiring or poor contact in connectors between ECM and IAC solenoid valve. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAC solenoid valve connector. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter connected to ground, check voltage between specified ECM and IAC connector terminals. See Figure and Figure . See IAC SOLENOID VALVE RESISTANCE - EXCEPT 2.2L & LEGACY 2.5L M/T  table. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair short to power in wiring between ECM and IAC solenoid valve connector. Replace ECM after repair. If voltage is 10 volts or less, replace ECM.
