Removal & Installation: Camshafts: Removal
- Remove timing belt and camshaft sprockets. See TIMING BELT . Remove camshaft position sensor. Remove left oil level gauge guide attaching bolt, and oil level gauge guide. Remove camshaft position sensor support. Remove camshaft support. Remove rocker arm assembly. See ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY .
- Using dial indicator, measure camshaft thrust clearance. If thrust clearance is not within specifications, camshaft support must be replaced. See CAMSHAFT table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
- Remove camshaft support bolt No. 1, and then bolt No. 2. See Fig 1. Equally loosen and remove bolts No. 3-10 in order. Using Torx Plus (ST 499497000), remove bolts No. 11-16 in order. Remove camshaft support, camshaft, oil seal (if necessary) and plug from rear of camshaft.
