Removal - 2000 Models

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE . Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD . Remove A/C compressor bracket-to-cylinder head bolt (if equipped). Remove camshafts. See CAMSHAFTS .
    2. CAUTION: Leave bolts No. 1 and 3 engaged by 3 or 4 threads to prevent cylinder head from falling.
  2. Remove left oil level gauge guide attaching bolt, and oil level gauge guide. Remove cylinder head bolts in sequence. See Figure. While tapping cylinder head with a plastic hammer, separate it from cylinder block. Remove bolts No. 1 and 3 to remove cylinder head. Remove cylinder head gasket. DO NOT scratch mating surface of cylinder head and cylinder block.
