1997 SVX
- Raise vehicle and secure with safety stand. Ensure all wheels are off floor. Start engine and set vehicle speed at 6 MPH (10 KM/H). Back probe and measure voltage between TCM connectors. AC voltage between connector B66 terminal No. 20 and No. 11 should pulsate from 0-1 volts to more than 4 volts. If voltage is okay, go to next step. If voltage is not within specification, replace TCM and retest.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect connector from TCM and connector from vehicle speed sensor No. 2. Measure resistance between TCM connector B66 and vehicle speed sensor No. 2 B9 connector. Resistance between connector B66 terminal No. 11 and B9 connector terminal No. 1 should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between TCM and vehicle speed sensor No. 2.
- Measure resistance between TCM connector B66 and ground. Resistance between connector B66 terminal No. 11 and ground should be more than 100 k/ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair short to ground in harness between TCM and vehicle speed sensor No. 2.
- Measure resistance between vehicle speed sensor No. 2 B9 connector and ground. Resistance between B9 connector terminal No. 2 and ground should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between vehicle speed sensor No. 2 and B7 connector at TPS.
- With KOEO, measure voltage between vehicle speed sensor No. 2 connector and ground. Voltage between terminal No. 3 of B9 connector and ground should be 10 volts minimum. If voltage is okay, go to next step. If voltage is not within specification, repair open in harness between vehicle speed sensor No. 2 and fuse No. 15 in Fuse and Relay Box (F/B).
- Remove vehicle speed sensor No. 2 from transmission, connect body harness B9 connector to vehicle speed sensor No. 2. With KOEO, rotate vehicle speed sensor No. 2. Backprobe and measure AC voltage across terminals No. 1 and 2 of B9 connector. AC voltage should change from 0-1 to 5 volts 4 times per revolution. If voltage is okay and AT OIL TEMP light illuminates, concern is intermittent and circuit has returned to normal condition. A temporary poor contact of connector or harness may be cause. Repair TCM harness or connector. If contacts are okay, TCM may be cause. Test with known good TCM. If voltage is not within specification, replace vehicle speed sensor No. 2.
NOTE:
All wheels must be off ground to perform following test. Speed difference between front and rear wheels during this step may cause ABS light to illuminate, but this does not indicate a malfunction. When A/T diagnosis is complete, perform ABS memory clearance procedure.
