- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect connector from TCM and connector from transmission. Measure resistance between TCM connector B67 and transmission connector. See Figure and Figure . Resistance between connector B67 terminal No. 12 and transmission connector terminal No. 16 should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between TCM and transmission connector.
- Measure resistance between TCM connector B66 and transmission connector. Resistance between connector B66 terminal No. 20 and transmission connector terminal No. 9 should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between TCM and transmission connector.
- Measure resistance between TCM connector B67 and ground. Resistance between connector B67 terminal No. 12 and ground should be 100 k/ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair short to ground in harness between TCM and transmission.
- Measure resistance between TCM B66 and ground. Resistance between connector B66 terminal No. 20 and ground should be 100 k/ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair short to ground in harness between TCM and transmission.
- With transmission disconnected, measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle terminals. See Figure. Resistance between transmission connector terminals No. 16 and No. 9 should be 450-650 ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, replace vehicle speed sensor No. 1.
- Measure signal voltage input of TCM. Raise vehicle on hoist and secure with safety stand. Start engine and set vehicle speed to 12 MPH (KM/H). Measure signal voltage between TCM B67 and connector B66s. See Figure. Measure voltage between connector B67 terminal No. 12 and connector B66 terminal No. 20. Voltage should be 1.0 AC volt. If voltage is not within specification, go to next step. If voltage is okay and AT OIL TEMP light illuminates, concern is intermittent and circuit has returned to normal condition. A temporary poor contact of connector or harness may be cause. Repair harness to, or connector in TCM or transmission connector.
- Check for poor contact in vehicle speed sensor No. 1 circuit. If contact is poor, repair as necessary. If contact is okay, replace TCM and retest.
