1997 SVX

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect connector from TCM and connector from transmission. Measure resistance between TCM connector B68 and transmission connector. See Figure and Figure . Resistance between connector B68 terminal No. 3 and transmission connector terminal No. 11 should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between TCM and transmission connector.
  2. Measure resistance between TCM connector B68 and transmission connector. Resistance between connector B68 terminal No. 10 and transmission connector terminal No. 4 should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between TCM and transmission.
  3. Measure resistance between TCM connector B68 and ground. Resistance between terminal No. 3 and ground should be more than 100 k/ohms. If resistance is not within specification, repair short to ground in harness between TCM and transmission.
  4. Measure resistance between TCM connector B68 and ground. Resistance between terminal No. 10 and ground should be more than 100 k/ohms. If resistance is not within specification, repair short to ground in harness between TCM and transmission.
  5. With transmission disconnected, measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle and ground. See Figure. Resistance between terminal No. 4 of connector receptacle and ground should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in internal transmission harness between receptacle and duty solenoid "C".
  6. Measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle terminals. Resistance between transmission connector receptacle terminals No. 11 and No. 4 should be 9-15 ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, replace duty solenoid "C".
  7. Install spare fuse on FWD connector main Fuse Box (F/B) and set in FWD mode. With KOEO, move shift selector lever to "D". Backprobe and measure voltage output from TCM B68 with accelerator pedal released. See Figure. Voltage between connector B68 terminal No. 3 and No. 10 should be 8-14 volts. If voltage is okay, go to next step. If voltage is not within specification, go to step  9.
  8. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove spare fuse from FWD connector in F/B. With KOEO, move shift selector lever to "D" position. Measure voltage output from TCM B68 with accelerator pedal fully depressed (WOT). Voltage between connector B68 terminal No. 3 and No. 10 should be .5 volt or less. If voltage is okay and AT OIL TEMP light illuminates, concern is intermittent and circuit has returned to normal condition. A temporary poor contact of connector or harness may be cause. Repair harness to, or connector in duty solenoid "C" or TCM. If voltage is not within specification, go to next step.
  9. Check for poor contact in duty solenoid "C" circuit. If poor contact is found, repair as necessary. If contact is okay, replace TCM and retest.
