- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect connectors from TCM and ECM. Measure resistance between TCM connector B54 and ECM B84 connector. Resistance between connector B54 terminal No. 9 and B84 connector terminal No. 35 should be 0-1 ohm. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair open in harness between TCM and ECM.
- Measure resistance between TCM connector B54 and ground. Resistance between connector B54 terminal No. 9 and ground should be more than 100 k/ohms. If resistance is okay, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, repair short to ground in harness between TCM and ECM.
- Connect connectors to ECM and TCM. Warm-up engine and transmission to operating temperature. ATF temperature must be above 176° F (80° C). With engine idling, back probe and measure voltage between TCM connector B54 terminal and ground. Voltage between connector B54 terminal No. 9 and ground should be .5-1.2 volts. If voltage is okay and AT OIL TEMP light illuminates, concern is intermittent and circuit has returned to normal condition. A temporary poor contact of connector or harness may be cause. Repair harness to, or connector in TCM or ECM. If voltage is not within specification, go to next step.
- Check for poor contact in mass air flow sensor signal circuit. If contact is poor, repair as necessary. If contact is okay, replace TCM and retest.
